Baby boy!!

Well, he was three weeks early but Eli, Penny and Jose's second child, was born yesterday.

We'd planned our Nordvick family Thanksgiving for yesterday but mom, Jose and Penny had to go to Thief River Falls. We went ahead with the meal and mom called and updated us every hour or so. He was born at 4 p.m. and we got there at 5 p.m. We were expecting it would take longer, with Oliver she was in labor more than 20 hours. With Eli it was half the time.

Anyway, we're Tio and Tia again. I took a bunch of pics and will post them later. (Not later like Chad's later tho.) ;-)

Happy turkey day!!!

Well, everybody, I just wanted to wish you a happy thanksgiving.

Chad and I are in Detroit Lakes with his family, the relatives haven't arrived yet so Chad and Bret are playing Madden football. After the meal we have to rush back to Jamestown, I have to work tonight. There is no newspaper on Thanksgiving so that means nobody in the editorial department had to work Wednesday but someone (this year me and the editor) has to work the night of the holiday.

Then Friday after work we're headed to Grygla to spend the weekend with my side of the family. Saturday we're having the meal with everybody and Sunday morning were going out in the woods to cut down a Christmas tree. That should be fun, we'll get one for my parents, one for Chad and I and one for Penny and Jose. Everybody is coming along to pick their tree out.

Then I have to work again Sunday night so we'll have to leave by 1 p.m. What a busy holiday!!

I made a pumpkin pie yesterday afternoon for my family's Thanksgiving - the Jessens said they had everything covered for this meal. Anyway, I burned it a little bit so it was a good excuse for us to sample it last night. It was good! The recipie called for crushed toasted pecans and crushed gingersnaps pushed into the crust. It's supposed to keep the crust from being soggy. Mmmm, good.

Just because

Here’s an artsy picture of the dozen red roses Chad gave me Friday, just because. He had them delivered to me at work, which is always so much fun. All the ladies wanted to know if it was my birthday or our anniversary. Nope. He just loves me.

It’s artsy because I felt like playing in photoshop. Even I can be visually creative with photoshop.

Well, that’s all I got. Hope you all are having a great day! Posted by Picasa

Comfy

Precious thought this looked like a comfy spot to lay. (The spiderman sheets were a wedding gift from my parents, just to Chad.) Posted by Picasa

the dream

I’ve always had recurring bad dreams. They differ according to my situation in life, but it seems I have the same dream, with variations over and over a lot. And I always seem to wake up with some “realization” upset because I always forgot this information during the day. Of course, it’s nothing, just seems like something in the night.

When I was a kid I’d dream that I was ice skating. In real life we’d done that in kindergarten with metal chairs to hold on to, kind of like kiddie walkers on the ice. In my dream something was terribly wrong with my legs and I couldn’t stay up on the ice, chair or not. It was always a very shameful thing to me, people in my dream were looking at me but trying to pretend they weren’t and I was very upset. Then I’d wake up and I’d have a terrible leg ache, something I got a lot when I was a kid. I’d think, no wonder I couldn’t stand up!

Then when I moved to Minneapolis and was living on my own after college I had a different reoccurring dream. I’d dream that cameras were watching me while I slept. And I’d sort of wake up but be too tired to do anything about it. Then I’d forget about it until the next time I dreamt it again. It seemed so real to me in the night.

My reoccurring dream as a married woman has something to do with Chad and some secret he only tells me in the night when I have this dream. His head is always turned away from me and his lips aren’t moving, he’s still laying down but he’s telling me something. Then when I “remember” this important information it’s like he’s laughing at me because I’ve “remembered” this over and over again and still I do nothing about it.

The reason I’m mentioning this is because it happened again last night. Chad was downstairs playing World of Warcraft and I was already asleep. Then I had the bad dream. I wanted to go get Chad, I always sleep better when he’s there, but I was too tired. So I woke up enough to call him on my cell phone, which was beside the bed!!

It was pretty hilarious. Chad answered his phone and said he’d come up to bed. But he still had to log off the game and by the time he got there I was sleeping again. When he got there I tried very hard to explain to him the important thing I knew we had to talk about, but apparently I only said something about the camera flash and it made no sense.

So there you have it: my reoccurring dream. I don’t really subscribe to the meanings behind dreams thing, it’s just a jumble of your own thoughts on scramble and on random replay I think. But if I could figure out how to stop having this dream, man I’d go for that!!

Any of you had reoccurring dreams?

I feel pretty, oh so pretty!

Just so there's no favoritism in this house, heeerrrreeessssss Sylvester. She's saying, quit with that flash already momma, I's sleepin here. Either that or, "Now for phase two in my plan for world domination."

This used to be her favorite computer chair to sleep in. If we couldn't find her likely she was sleeping here. Fortunately it was the second chair that wasn't used as much. Then, Chad's grandma got a new one and kindly gave us her old one. It being the new-to-us chair it was promoted to the favorite chair by Chad.

And also Sylvester.

So now, whenever Chad wants to use his computer he has to kick Sylvester off "her" chair. I tend to just scoot the chair over and use a differnt one, she likes the ride, but Chad makes her move on principle. Posted by Picasa

Caliente!

Here's a photo I took this summer of my now 17-year-old sister Katy. Isn't she pretty? Make sure to scroll down for all three new pics.Posted by Picasa

How you doin'?

Here's a photo my sister Katy e-mailed me of her in her Halloween costume. As you can see, she went as a man. I guess a lot of people, including people that know her pretty well, didn't even recognize her.

The suit is from my brother and I guess a friend's mom helped her with the facial hair and supplied the wig. Pretty good, I'd say!!

I included the photo above of her in her natural state so you'd all know what a transformation it was!Posted by Picasa

Luke-er Duke-er

Here's a picture of Luke showing Katy how to play pool this summer when we went camping.

He has been sending me some pretty funny e-mails from Iraq and I thought I'd post them.

He arrived there a couple days ago: His emails are in italics:

Just got to Iraq last night. It's pretty cool here. Two people in a room. Chow hall is really good. It's got a baskin robbins inside that is also free. Flew in a C-130 from kuwait. It's a lot different from a civillian airplane. The Plane was from wyoming air national gaurd. They told me to pull four pins by my seat when we crossed over the border into Iraq. I still have know idea what they did. I'll be trying to figure that out for years. Other people beside me were asking what they did and I came up with several different stories. I don't know if they actually beleived me or not. The seats were like red netting. A couple of people got sick. As soon as the plane landed somebody sprinted to the porta jon and puked their guts out for like ten minutes. It was hilarious. I didn't get sick, but the plane does fly a little more erratic than a civilian plane. We hear sirens about twice a day which means there was a mortar or rocket attack. Never anywhere close. I've only been here one day and I guess one hit last night, but I didn't even wake up.

Then I sent him an e-mail asking if he was the only person that had to pull the pins. I also mentioned our Halloween plans. Here's what he wrote.

I was the only one that had to pull pins. Dressed up like a soldier for Holloween. No candy.

Isn't he hilarious? Posted by Picasa
